  • Born André George Previn April 6, 1929, in Berlin, Germany
  • The multitalented pianist/conductor garnered success in the pop, jazz and classical genres and as a film music composer. He released back-to-back albums to hit inside the Top 40 with 1959's Secret Songs For Young Lovers (No. 16) and 1960's Like Love (No. 25). His highest charting single was 1959's "Like Young," which reached No. 46 on the Billboard Hot 100.
  • Previn won his first career GRAMMY at the 1st GRAMMY Awards in 1958 for Best Sound Track Album, Dramatic Picture Score Or Original Cast for Gigi.
  • He was made an honorary knight of the British Empire in 1996 for his services to music.
