- Born George Robert Newhart Sept. 5, 1929, in Oak Park, Illinois.
- Bob Newhart released a pair of No. 1 comedy audio albums. His 1960 release of The Button-Down Mind Of Bob Newhart topped the Billboard 200, the first comedy album to do so. Also released in 1960, The Button-Down Mind Strikes Back! went to No. 1.
- Newhart starred in "The Bob Newhart Show," which followed "the professional and personal misadventures of a psychologist and his family." The popular sitcom ran from 1972–1978.
- Newhart earned his three GRAMMY wins at the 3rd GRAMMY Awards. He won Best New Artist Of 1960, Album Of The Year (The Button-Down Mind Of Bob Newhart) and Best Comedy Performance — Spoken Word (The Button-Down Mind Strikes Back!). He remains the only comedian to have won Best New Artist and Album Of The Year.
- The Button-Down Mind Of Bob Newhart was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame in 2007.
- Did you know? Newhart worked as an accountant and ad agency copywriter until he was 30 years old.
