  • Members: Alex Pall, Andrew Taggart
  • Formed in 2012 in New York, New York
  • The Chainsmokers' 2014 viral hit "#Selfie" reached No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their second EP, 2016's Collage, reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200, spawning "Closer" featuring Halsey, which was the longest-running No. 1 hit in the United States in 2016.
  • The duo won their first career GRAMMY for Best Dance Recording for "Don't Let Me Down" featuring Daya at the 59th GRAMMY Awards.
  • Both Pall and Taggart have a music education background. Pall was a student at New York University and majored in art history and music business; Taggart attended Syracuse University's prestigious Bandier Program, which focuses on the business of combining music, media, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
  • In September 2016, the duo took part in "Spotlight: The Chainsmokers," a GRAMMY Museum program during which they discussed their formation, indie roots and creative processes.
