  • Born Wouter De Backer May 21, 1980, in Bruges, Belgium
     
  • Released in 2011, "Somebody That I Used To Know" (featuring Kimbra) brought Gotye international fame, topping multiple singles charts, including the Billboard Hot 100. His third studio album, Making Mirrors, hit No. 6 on the Billboard 200.
     
  • The singer won his first three career GRAMMY Awards for 2013: Record Of The Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance ("Somebody That I Used To Know") and Best Alternative Music Album (Making Mirrors).
     
  • Gotye has been the subject of multiple clues on the television game show "Jeopardy!"
     
  • Gotye is a longtime supporter of the Thin Green Line Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing vital support to park rangers and community conservation efforts.
