Biography

  • Born March 16, 1988, in Los Angeles
  • Jhené Aiko got her start contributing back-up vocals for R&B group B2K. In 2013 the performer earned her first Top 40 hit after appearing on Big Sean's single "Beware," which also featured Lil Wayne. Later that year, she released an EP titled Sail Out, which included "The Worst." The track peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100.
  • The artist received her first three GRAMMY nominations for 2014 — Best R&B Song for "The Worst," Best Urban Contemporary Album for Sail Out and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for her vocals on "Blak Majik" alongside Common.
  • Aiko's main musical influence is Brandy, saying "I fell in love with her voice when I was six years old."
  • The singer has supported the #ImUnloading Campaign by recording an anti-gun PSA along with Snoop Dogg, Matt Barnes, Aloe Blacc, and Bobby Wagner. She has also been active with the VH1 Save The Music Foundation.
