- Born Sept. 25, 1941, in Florida, N.Y.
- After recording and performing steadily through the '70s with his band, Jimmy Sturr And His Orchestra, Sturr gained wider recognition for his brand of polka music in the mid-'80s with a string of releases that would earn him the GRAMMY win in the Best Polka Recording category five consecutive years between 1986–1990.
- Jimmy Sturr And His Orchestra received their first GRAMMY win for their album I Remember Warsaw for 1986. He went on to receive not only five wins in the Best Polka Recording category, but an additional 13 wins for Best Polka Album. With 18 total GRAMMY wins, Sturr is one of the top GRAMMY winners of all time.
- Sturr's music has been featured on the TV show "Jeopardy."
- Sturr performed at Farm Aid in 2007 to raise funds and awareness to support the nonprofit's mission of "keeping family farmers on their land."
