- Born John Clayton Mayer on Oct. 16, 1977, in Bridgeport, Connecticut
- John Mayer's 2001 debut album, Room For Squares, peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard 200. The album featured two Top 20 hits: "No Such Thing" (No. 13) "Your Body Is A Wonderland" (No. 18).
- Mayer earned his first career GRAMMY for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Your Body is a Wonderland" for 2002. He won his first General Field award for Song Of The Year for "Daughters" for 2004. The singer/guitarist made his GRAMMY debut with a performance of "Your Body Is A Wonderland" at the 45th GRAMMY Awards in 2003.
- Did you know? The singer/songwriter joined Lisa Marie Presley to present the award for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal Award to U2 for "Vertigo” at the 47th GRAMMY Awards.
- Mayer has performed at multiple MusiCares Person of the Year events, including the 2007 and 2009 tributes to Don Henley and Neil Diamond. The annual gala raises funds for MusiCares, which provides services and resources that cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies for music people.
- In 2002 Mayer founded the "Back to You" fund to raise money for health care, education, the arts, and talent development through auctions of collectibles.
