  • Born Luis Alfonso Rodríguez López-Cepero April 15, 1978, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
  • Luis Fonsi earned his first U.S. crossover hit with the remix of his smash hit "Despacito," featuring Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber. The tune spent 16 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, matching Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" for the longest run at No. 1 in the chart's history.
  • Luis Fonsi earned his first GRAMMY nomination at the 51st GRAMMY Awards for Best Latin Pop Album for Palabras Del Silencio.
  • "Despacito" earned Fonsi four Latin GRAMMY Awards at the 18th Latin GRAMMYs in 2017, including Song and Record Of The Year.
  • Did you know? At his Orlando, Florida, high school, Fonsi belonged to a singing group called the Big Guys with future *NSync member Joey Fatone.
  • Fonsi has dedicated his time and resources to support St. Jude Children's Hospital. In 2008 he was named their Thanks and Giving campaign ambassador.
