Biography

  • Formed 2001 in Los Angeles, California
  • The band's debut album, 2002's Songs About Jane, reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200. The album spawned the hits "Harder To Breathe," "She Will Be Loved," "This Love," and "Sunday Morning." 
  • Maroon 5 earned their first career GRAMMY for Best New Artist at the 47th GRAMMY Awards. The band was among the performers to open the 47th GRAMMY telecast, performing "This Love."
  • Adam Levine has said that "Harder To Breathe" was about the pressure the band was feeling from its record label during the recording of Songs About Jane.
  • Maroon 5 performed "Ticket To Ride" on "The Night That Changed America: A GRAMMY Salute to The Beatles," which aired in 2014. In 2010 Levine and Jesse Carmichael were among the artist participants at GRAMMY Camp, a nonresidential summer music industry program for high school students interested in careers in music.
  • Levine has participated as a spokesman for the Own It campaign, encouraging people to learn more about attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, which he suffered from as a teenager.
