• Born Michael Bolotin on Feb. 26, 1954, in New Haven, Connecticut
   
• Michael Bolton achieved breakthrough success with his 1987 cover of Otis Redding's "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay," which hit No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Bolton scored his first chart-topping album with 1991's Time, Love & Tenderness, which included his No. 1 cover of Percy Sledge's "When A Man Loves A Woman."
   
• He won his first career GRAMMY at the 32nd GRAMMY Awards for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male for "How Am I Supposed To Love You." That same year, Bolton made his debut on the GRAMMY stage performing the song alongside Kenny G.
   
• Before becoming a solo artist, Bolton fronted the hard-rock band Blackjack. The group toured as the opening act for metal icon Ozzy Osbourne.
   
• Bolton runs his own foundation, Michael Bolton Charities, which assists women and children at risk of emotional, physical and sexual abuse.
