  • Born Philip David Charles Collins on Jan. 30, 1951, in London, England
     
  • A founding member of Genesis, Phil Collins and the group first cracked the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 with 1981's Abacab, which went to No. 7. That same year, Collins' debut solo album, Face Value, also hit No. 7. The album featured the Top 20 hits "In The Air Tonight" and "I Missed Again."
     
  • Collins earned his first GRAMMY of his career was for Best Pop Vocal Performance for "Against All Odds (Take A look At Me Now)" at the 27th GRAMMY Awards.
     
  • Did you know? Collins played drums for Led Zeppelin during the group's reunion performance at Live-Aid in 1985.
     
  • Collins was honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year in 1997. The annual gala raises funds for MusiCares, which provides services and resources that cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies for music people.
     
  • He established the Little Dreams Foundation in 2000, with a mission of helping young aspiring talents without financial means to achieve their goals.
