On "Focus Coin," Eastern European punk band Gogol Bordello question everything — from the fidelity of their partners to the intentions of the world's economic leaders.
"Have you noticed you just can't focus?/ If you can't focus, how can you notice?" Gogol Bordello poses in the opening line of the track, later declaring the lying nature of society.
In this episode of Global Spin, Gogol Bordello perform "Focus Coin" live from one of their latest tour stops. The band's energy is intense; Ukrainian frontman Eugen Hütz leads the performance with his powerful and raspy vocals, while members Pedro Erazo and Ashley "TOBI" Tobias pump up the crowd with infectious dance moves and enthusiastic chants.
"Focus Coin" is one of the singles from Gogol Bordello's latest album, Solidaritine. A year after touring in the U.S. in support of the album, the group will embark on a European tour on May 24, starting in Dublin and concluding in Cologne on June 22. Right after their own tour concludes, they'll play Denmark's Tinderbox Festival on June 23 and the Netherlands' Jera On Air festival on June 24.
Outside of their musical endeavors, the band has advocated for Ukrainian solidarity throughout the Russo-Ukrainian war, partnering with Nova Ukraine, ArtDopomoga, and more. They dedicated their 2022 U.S. tour to Ukrainian defenders, with a significant portion of proceeds benefiting Ukraine's battle for democracy.
