Texas Chapter GRAMMY University Network members participated in GRAMMY SoundChecks: Behind The Scenes At Austin City Limits Music Festival. The ACL Music Festival is an internationally recognized festival that incorporates artists from the Texas music scene as well as throughout the United States and the world. This year's featured artists included Bob Dylan, the Killers, Bjork, Muse, Joss Stone, Common, Bloc Party, Damien Rice, Arctic Monkeys and many more.
The program began at the main entrance of Zilker Park with Lisa Hickey, Texas Chapter Secretary and marketing manager of C3 Presents, briefing the students on the coordination of one of the largest music festivals in the world.
C3 staffers guided the students across the festival grounds via golf carts to tour the artist lounge, the news media platform, and one of the main stages where the stage manager explained how the production crew manages the stage and back-to-back performances.
Several local media outlets were on hand and students were interviewed by local news station News 8 Austin for their coverage of the music festival, which aired hourly for the entirety of the weekend. The students gained valuable insight into how a production company such as C3 organizes and runs a large event such as the ACL Music Festival.
