On April 17 more than 300 high school students from surrounding boroughs were invited to take an inside look at the music career of former New York Yankees star Bernie Williams. The students witnessed a jam session featuring Williams and members of his band. During a question-and-answer session, Williams explained what baseball and music has done for him and how he made the transition from one profession to another. He also shared that music was his first love and how his return to it has given his life a new meaning. GRAMMY-winning artist Jon Secada was a surprise guest and joined Williams onstage for a few songs, in addition to participating in the discussion.
Students received an opportunity to learn about a unique artist who has been successful in both sports and music.
