On April 26 the Philadelphia Chapter, together with the GRAMMY Foundation and GRAMMY U, invited students to a GRAMMY SoundChecks with legendary jazz pianist and 15-time GRAMMY winner Chick Corea. Corea and his all-star band featuring Brian Blade, Kenny Garrett, Christian McBride, and John McLaughlin were in town for a concert at Keswick Theatre on the home stretch of an international tour.
After a brief photo opportunity, students were able to ask band members about life on the road, their set list and even remote topics such as the NFL Draft. Following the question-and-answer session, students were given complimentary tickets to the concert and were treated to some of the greatest living jazz and fusion musicians today. New GRAMMY U member and saxophonist Tal Shtuhl said, "The combination of phenomenal musicianship and stellar technique was incredible to watch. The five-piece band was truly a supergroup."
