The Nashville Chapter GRAMMY U members recently took part in a GRAMMY SoundChecks presented by the GRAMMY Foundation with Colbie Caillat at the Cannery Ballroom. More than 20 students listened as Caillat ran through her repertoire of songs, which included her single, "Bubbly," from her debut album Coco.

Caillat credits MySpace in helping launch her career saying, "My friends told me to post my songs on MySpace and before I knew it I was receiving quite a few hits." She became the No. 1 unsigned artist on MySpace for four months in a row receiving more than 10 million plays. "That's how I landed my label deal with Universal Republic Records," said Caillat.

The students also asked Caillat about her songwriting and touring. "I used to get stage fright, but I've noticed that as I get into the tour, I'm learning to feel more comfortable," said Caillat. As far as her songwriting, Caillat mentioned, "I don't write much on tour because it's difficult to take time for songwriting on the road."

GRAMMY U members spoke with Caillat for more than 20 minutes then gathered for a group photo.
