On May 12 the PNW Chapter, along with the GRAMMY Foundation, hosted a GRAMMY SoundChecks with New Zealand-based folk/comedy duo Flight Of The Conchords. GRAMMY U and Seattle-area high school students were treated to a question-and-answer session and intimate discussion with Jemaine Clement and Bert McKenzie covering a variety of topics ranging from Flight Of The Conchords' beginnings, their rapid ascension in popularity, the creative process behind their humorous songs, and story ideas for their HBO show.

Clement and McKenzie engaged the students and answered all their questions with humor and honesty. The students were grateful to hear advice on combining comedy with music, as well as some funny anecdotes from their touring experiences and everyday lives.

Following the discussion, Flight Of The Conchords, along with their cellist Nigel Collins, treated the students to a hilarious listening party of a few songs from their set, took requests and interacted with the students in between tunes.

Through this experience the students were able to understand firsthand why Flight Of The Conchords are known, tongue-in-cheek, as "New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo accapella-rap-funk-comedy folk-duo."
