The Memphis Chapter, together with the GRAMMY Foundation, hosted a GRAMMY SoundChecks with Hawk Nelson at Minglewood Hall on Oct. 8. The band performed a soundcheck for 16 GRAMMY U students as they prepared for their concert that evening.
Following the soundcheck, students were treated to a question-and-answer session with the Hawk Nelson band members as they discussed life on the road as a touring band. Students asked the band members how they persevered individually as musicians without resigning themselves to give up when faced with challenges. "If you go into the music business with a plan B in mind, at some point you will do the plan B," said Hawk Nelson drummer Justin Benner. All band members agreed and encouraged students with their motto, "Don't quit, keep pushing."
After the question-and-answer session, attendees remained backstage to visit with the band.
