On Nov. 19 the Los Angeles Chapter and the GRAMMY Foundation hosted a GRAMMY SoundChecks with Leona Lewis during a taping of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

A small group of Los Angeles GRAMMY U students were given this exclusive opportunity. Upon arrival, Lewis made her way on stage to begin her soundcheck, which featured her latest single "Better In Time." After the performance, students made their way into the green room for an exciting discussion with Lewis and her management team. Every student was given the chance to share their musical interests with Lewis and her team, and topics ranged from her experience on winning the UK television show "The X Factor" to working with legendary industry executive Clive Davis. When asked about meeting Whitney Houston for the first time, Lewis smiled and said, "[It] was a dream come true for me."

After the discussion, students were given a special tour of the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" set. Students filed into the studio and mingled in front of the main stage. In addition to the Pontiac Garage stage and an outdoor concert stage, students were surprised to learn that a section of the main studio stage was sectioned off to feature more intimate acoustic performances. As the tour came to an end, the students were excited to see host Jimmy Kimmel walk through the studio and say goodnight.
