On Oct. 2 the Memphis Chapter along with the GRAMMY Foundation hosted a GRAMMY SoundChecks with Marc Broussard for GRAMMY U members from the University of Memphis and music students from the Memphis University School. Attendees got the chance to watch Broussard and his band soundcheck before their show at the New Daisy Theater. Broussard and his band then sat down with the students and discussed topics such as their record deal with Atlantic and the life of a touring musician. They also gave the students some tips on how to make low-budget records and release recordings independently. When asked what he thinks about his current profession as a touring musician, Broussard expressed that "the best thing about it is you get to call your favorite hobby a job."
