GRAMMY U students attended a GRAMMY SoundChecks with My Morning Jacket at the Fox Theatre on Aug. 27. Approximately 30 students had an opportunity to witness My Morning Jacket's concert soundcheck and meet with the band members and tour manager Eric Mayers afterward.
Following the soundcheck, Mayers and the band conducted a question-and-answer session with the students. Moderated by Chapter Governor Simon Horrocks, topics addressed included the touring process, the inspiration behind the band's music, advice for college student musicians and bands just beginning their career, and the challenges and benefits of being an independent band in today's industry.
