On May 17, GRAMMY U members and 12 students from Verdugo Hills High School had the opportunity to attend a GRAMMY SoundChecks with Pepe Aguilar at the Gibson Amphitheatre.
Following a brief overview of the activities planned, students were led down to the two front rows of the venue to watch Aguilar perform a concert soundcheck. GRAMMY U members were able to witness the various situations that come up during a soundcheck and learn how they are rectified before the actual concert performance.
After Aguilar finished, he sat down with GRAMMY U members for a question-and-answer session. Topics included how he felt when he won his first GRAMMY, the challenges of being Hispanic in the music industry and words of advice. Aguilar said that a career in the industry requires many sacrifices and he emphasized that it is important to "do it right" and learn the legal and business aspects inherent to the industry.
Los Angeles Chapter Board member and Cuervo Entertainment President Javier Willis made this event possible for GRAMMY U members.
