The Washington, D.C. Chapter of GRAMMY U participated in a GRAMMY SoundChecks with Trey Songz. Songz, an Atlantic recording artist, welcomed the opportunity to speak to the students and invited them to his dressing room for a question-and-answer session following his concert soundcheck.
Songz recounted his experiences in breaking into the music industry at the age of 15 and recording his debut album, I Gotta Make It, in 2005. Songz also shared his thoughts on juggling the business side of the industry with the creative side, being affiliated with a major label, and the importance of a publicist and manager's role within an artist's creative team.
