Pop-punk star Maggie Lindemann may travel all over the world performing for fans, but she’s still got a taste for the simple, classic things in life — like ramen noodles.

In this episode of Herbal Tea & White Sofas, GRAMMY.com’s interview series that features artists explaining what they put on their riders, Lindemann says her backstage must-haves include some of the same things you might find on a college student’s grocery list.

"My tour riders are pretty simple," the singer says. "My main things are Ramen, applesauce, Gatorade and Throat Coat tea."

Each of those has a specific purpose. For example, ramen is the perfect pre-show snack, Lindemann goes on to say. "I actually don’t eat before shows, because if I perform on a full stomach, I just have no energy. So Ramen is the perfect amount of food for me to eat before a show. Not a big bowl, but just Cup Ramen."

The singer also makes sure that she’s got privacy in her dressing room, since she oftens suffers from pre-show jitters. "Right before I go onstage, I’m usually just really nervous. I have pretty bad stage anxiety. So I’ll just be trying to calm myself down," Lindemann admits.

But once she gets onstage, she loves connecting with the crowd, and appreciates the familial, easy-going bond she shares with her fans.

"I just feel like we’re friends," the singer adds. "Like, they make fun of me, and they tell me how it is, which I really appreciate. This song isn’t my best? Tell me why it’s not my best. Tell me how I can improve. I feel like I can trust them, and I hope they feel like they can have a safe space with me, too."

Lindemann will have plenty of new music to run by fans this year: She’s currently rolling out new songs for her upcoming full-length debut, Suckerpunch.
