Judy McGrath To Exit MTV Networks
Viacom
has announced that Judy McGrath will resign from her position as chairman and CEO of MTV Networks. McGrath, who began her career as a copywriter at MTV in 1981, was named chairman and CEO in 2004. Following McGrath's departure, MTV executives Doug Herzog, president of MTVN Entertainment Group; Van Toffler, president of MTVN Music & Logo Group; and Cyma Zarghami, president of Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids & Family Group will report directly to Philippe Dauman, president and CEO of MTV parent Viacom. Digital Music Sales Up In 2011
According to a recent Nielsen SoundScan report, digital track sales are up 8 percent in 2011 for the period ending May 1, a significant increase compared to a 1 percent overall sales increase in 2010. Digital album sales are up 16 percent during the period compared to 13 percent for the full year in 2010. CD sales are down 9 percent for the period. Overall album sales are down 2 percent compared to a 10 percent decrease in sales at the same point in the year-ago period. (5/5)
