The Latin Recording Academy, in partnership with the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation, has announced the launch of the Latin Music Educator Award, a new honor recognizing one exceptional K-12 educator from the global music community who is making a meaningful impact by incorporating Latin music into their curriculum.
Applications for the inaugural Latin Music Educator Award are now open to educators worldwide. Eligible applicants must be educators currently teaching kindergarten through high school in a public, private or charter school, who speak Spanish, Portuguese, English or any native dialect. The deadline to apply is Friday, September 5, 2025, at 8:59 p.m. PT/11:59 p.m. ET. Application materials can be submitted in English, Spanish or Portuguese.

The inaugural recipient of the Latin Music Educator Award will be honored at the Special Awards Presentation during Latin GRAMMY Week 2025 in Las Vegas this November, days ahead of the 2025 Latin GRAMMYs, which take place on Thursday, Nov. 13. The honoree will receive an all-expenses-paid trip for themselves and a guest to attend the Special Awards Presentation. Additionally, the recipient’s school music program will receive a $10,000 instrument donation to support continued music education.
“Educators are pivotal in nurturing and shaping the future of Latin music and its creators,” Latin Recording Academy CEO Manuel Abud said in a statement. “Together with the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation, we are proud to honor those who ensure the enduring legacy of Latin music.”
This year, the 2025 Latin GRAMMYs, officially known as the 26th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, will take over the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Thursday, Nov. 13. Nominations for the 2025 Latin GRAMMYs will be announced Wednesday, Sept. 17, and streamed across the Latin Recording Academy's social channels. The Latin Recording Academy will debut a new field and two new Latin GRAMMY categories at the 2025 Latin GRAMMYs: Best Music For Visual Media, housed in the newly created Visual Media field, and Best Roots Song.
Ahead of the 2025 Latin GRAMMYs, Latin GRAMMY Week will once again feature a full slate of special events throughout Las Vegas, including the Special Awards Ceremony, Leading Ladies of Entertainment, Latin GRAMMY In The Schools, Nominee Reception, Best New Artist Showcase, Person of the Year Gala, and Premiere Ceremony, with most events taking place in the days ahead of the telecast. This year, the Latin Recording Academy will honor iconic Spanish singer and performer Raphael as the 2025 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year. Additional details about the inaugural Latin Music Educator Award, the Special Awards Presentation, and Latin GRAMMY Week 2025 will be announced in the coming months.
