Even in the hard times, worship singer Melvin Crispell III continued to have faith in what "God Is." If anything, his relationship with God grew stronger after experiencing familial loss and the pandemic — and his testimony is the heart of his latest album, No Failure.
In this episode of Positive Vibes Only, Crispell delivers an acoustic performance of his single "God Is." The track was originally recorded by James Cleveland in 1979 and has been one of the most meaningful songs in Crispell's life.
"God is the joy and the strength of my life/ He removes all pain, misery, and strife/ He promised to keep me/ Never to leave me," Crispell declares in the first verse. It's a message that becomes even more powerful after knowing he went through a period of struggle.
No Failure, arriving June 16, is Crispell's second studio and first live album. As "God Is" indicates, the singer's biggest hope is that the album "brings listeners a little closer to Jesus."
"We are living in a world that is cruel and doesn't really have a direction right now," he adds in a press statement. "Still, we have to continue to trust in Jesus, and in a whole new way, because He is the source of our strength."
