MTV VMAs Scores Record 12.4 Million Viewers
The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards drew 12.4 million viewers on Aug. 28, a 9 percent increase over last year's broadcast and the largest audience in the history of the awards show. The show's 10.8 rating among the 12–34 demographic was an increase of 8 percent compared to 2009, marking MTV's most-watched telecast of all time in the demo. MTV.com attracted 2 million unique visitors and 10 million page views on Aug. 28, up 18 percent from 2010. Performances included Adele, BeyoncĂ©, Lady Gaga, and Bruno Mars, and Katy Perry was among the top winners, taking home three awards. (8/30)
