The Pacific Northwest Chapter and the GRAMMY Foundation held a GRAMMY Career Day focusing on collaboration at the Cascade Campus of Portland Community College on Jan.13. More than 200 Portland-area high school students were in attendance for the event, which included a panel, "Riding The Pipeline"; smaller break-out sessions; and a performance by local hip-hop group the Lifesavas. The "Riding The Pipeline" panel featured a panelist from each part of the music development process who outlined the creative and business process of collaborating to produce an album — from an artist signing with a manager and label and recording an album to an engineer mixing the album, a retail store stocking it and a publicist getting it noticed.
