Restructuring At Island Def Jam, Universal Motown
Island Def Jam Music Group and Universal Motown Republic Group have announced a new restructuring that will combine legal, finance, international, and digital operations between the two labels, according to a Billboard.biz report. Both labels will continue to function as two independent groups, and the reconfiguration will allow for increased creative expenditures across the labels, with specific plans to double A&R efforts at Universal Motown. The new department heads for both groups are Steve Gawley, executive vice president of business and legal affairs; George Marolda, chief financial officer; Meredeth Oliver, vice president of A&R administration; Jon Vanhala, senior vice president of digital, brand integration and new business; and Matt Voss, senior vice president of international. As a result of the restructuring, approximately 20 Universal Motown employees have been let go. (6/20)
