As the clock struck 12:12 a.m. ET on Aug. 12, Taylor Swift revealed the news heard around the world: TS12 is coming.
Swift revealed the title of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, on her website and teased audiences with a clip from her episode of "New Heights," the podcast hosted by her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason. Debuting on Aug. 13, the two-hour episode saw Swift reveal several details about the forthcoming album, from its release date to its Eras Tour-inspirations.
Of course, the queen of current pop music is also the queen of Easter eggs, so there will likely be more hints to divulge about the universe of The Life of a Showgirl. For now, GRAMMY.com has rounded up all of the things Swift has shared about The Life of a Showgirl to date.
At 12:12 on the 12th, TS12 finally got a name: The Life of a Showgirl. ❤️🔥 More info soon… pre pre-order the album & pre pre-scream in the meantime!!!!!!!!!!!! https://t.co/Xv1MYlxrYy#TSTheLifeofaShowgirl pic.twitter.com/Iw6nIenIkN

The Album Will Be Released Oct. 3
On the aforementioned episode of "New Heights," Swift revealed that The Life of a Showgirl will be released on Oct. 3 (perhaps not coincidentally, just a couple of days before Travis Kelce's birthday).
Some Swifties speculated an October release date after seeing the pre pre-order page for The Life of a Showgirl, which read "Ships before 10/13/2025." October has historically been a favored month of Swift's, as Taylor Swift, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Midnights were all released in the 10th month — but The Life of a Showgirl will be her first early October arrival.
Fans can now pre-order The Life of a Showgirl, which is available on vinyl, cassette and/or a CD with a poster.
There Are Several Cover Versions
While the green-and-orange cover Swift unveiled on "New Heights" — called the "Sweat and Vanilla Perfume Edition," which features the star dressed in a bedazzled outfit, submerged in water — is the primary album artwork, she'll seemingly be issuing different limited-edition vinyl variations for fans to scoop up. The first batch included the "It's Frightening Edition," which saw Swift crawling over red theatre seats; the "It's Rapturous Edition," which saw Swift with a short black bob and a feathered getup; and the "It's Beautiful Edition," which is perhaps the sexiest of the covers so far, with Swift biting her finger in a skimpy bejeweled set.
On Aug. 18, she dropped the "Shiny Bug Edition," which sees Swift in a sparkly black bodysuit amid a green background, with two different marbled vinyl options: wintergreen and onyx, and violet shimmer. While it's unclear how many more cover versions there will be, those who want one of the special vinyl editions should act fast: they'll only be available for 48 hours after they hit her online store.
It Will Include 12 Songs
Swift also revealed The Life of a Showgirl tracklist, which is fittingly 12 songs:
1. The Fate of Ophelia \
2. Elizabeth Taylor\
3. Opalite\
4. Father Figure\
5. Eldest Daughter\
6. Ruin the Friendship\
7. Actually Romantic\
8. Wi$h Li$t\
9. Wood\
10. CANCELLED!\
11. Honey\
12. The Life of a Showgirl (featuring a very special guest… more on that shortly)
It Will See Her Reunite With Max Martin And Shellback…
On the heels of announcing the album, Swift shared a Spotify playlist called "And, baby, that's show business for you." It features 22 songs from 2012's Red, 2014's 1989 and 2017's reputation — the only albums in her discography that were co-produced by Max Martin and Shellback.
Martin and Shellback will indeed return for The Life of a Showgirl, which marks their first collaboration on a new album since reputation. (They each contributed to the re-recorded productions of Red (Taylor's Version) in 2021 and 1989 (Taylor's Version) in 2023.)
"The three of us have made some of my favorite songs that I've ever done before," Swift asserted to the Kelce brothers, noting that The Life of a Showgirl will mark the first time the trio have exclusively worked on an album together with no other collaborators. They created the album while Swift was on tour in Sweden, which is home to both superproducers.
"It felt like catching lightning in a bottle, honestly. We hadn't worked together in like 7 or 8 years. There's something about 'em … they’re just geniuses," she shared. "I essentially said to 'em, 'I want to be as proud of an album as I am of the Eras Tour, and for the same reasons."
…And One Eras Tour Opener
While Martin and Shellback were Swift's sole collaborators in the creation of The Life of a Showgirl, she further paid homage to the Eras Tour by recruiting one of its opening acts as the album's only featured artist: Sabrina Carpenter.
Carpenter — who joined Swift in Mexico City, Mexico; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil; Melbourne and Sydney, Australia; and Singapore, also popping up as a surprise guest in New Orleans — fittingly features on the title track. "I know someone who's freaking out and it's me," Carpenter wrote on an Instagram story of the track list on Aug. 13.
She's In Her Orange Era
During the last few weeks of the Eras Tour, Swift began incorporating the color orange into her onstage wardrobe, even changing her final exit to include an orange door. "I kind of wanted to give a little subliminal hint to the fans that I may be leaving the Eras Tour era, but I was also entering a new era," she explained on "New Heights."
Her choice in color was also very intentional. "It feels like, kind of energetically, how my life has felt," Swift added. "And this album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant, and electric, and vibrant."
It May Be An Album Of "Glitter Gel Pen" Songs
In 2022, Swift curated three playlists of her own songs on Apple Music: Quill Pen Songs, Fountain Pen Songs, and Glitter Gel Pen Songs, the three categories she detailed upon accepting the Songwriter-Artist of the Decade honor at the 2022 Nashville Songwriter Awards. As she explained in her speech, Glitter Gel Pen songs feature "lyrics that make you want to dance, sing and toss glitter around the room … frivolous, carefree, bouncy, syncopated perfectly to the beat."
Along with the colors orange and mint green, there's one key element to the aesthetic of The Life of a Showgirl: glitter. And with pop phenoms Max Martin and Shellback behind the project, Swifties may need to start stocking up on their sparkles.
