The Washington, D.C. Chapter of GRAMMY U held its first GRAMMY SoundChecks this semester at Ram's Head Live! with alternative rap band Gym Class Heroes and R&B sensation Estelle. The event drew many GRAMMY U students who were able to connect with fellow members as well as the artists. The event began with a soundcheck by Gym Class Heroes and GRAMMY U students had the exclusive opportunity to observe as concert staff and artists tested equipment and prepared for their concert later that evening. Following the soundcheck students gathered for a question-and-answer session with both Estelle and Gym Class Heroes.

Attendees were able to network with like-minded students while learning more about the music industry. The artists were outgoing and engaging and answered several questions about the realities of artist management, touring, recording, and how to gain success in the industry.

The GRAMMY SoundChecks event was a great opportunity for GRAMMY U members to get a behind-the-scenes look at the concert industry.
