The Chicago Chapter partnered with the GRAMMY Foundation to host a GRAMMY SoundChecks event with recording artist James Blunt at the historic Aragon Ballroom in Chicago on Oct. 23.

Students from Lake Forest High School and the De Paul University Music Business Program attended the event. The Chicago Chapter staff, along with Blunt's tour manager Robert Hayden, gave the students a firsthand look at the Aragon's sound board, side stage, back stage and green room areas.

The students caught Blunt's sound check, followed by a question-and-answer session, in which the former British soldier talked about his influences and considerable life experiences. The humble multi-platinum artist also invited the students on stage to check out instruments and equipment.

Throughout the afternoon, the students were engaged and captivated by the generosity, insightfulness and openness that Blunt, the band and the tour staff demonstrated. The Chapter received many positive comments from the students as well as the guests from Verizon that were on hand. A special thank you goes to Verizon Wireless for sponsoring the event as well as Scott Brothman of Atlantic Records for all of his assistance with this program.
