On July 29 25 students from middle Tennessee colleges and universities gathered at the Cannery Ballroom for a GRAMMY SoundChecks with Matt Hires and Paolo Nutini. Following their soundcheck, Nutini and band members Dave Nelson, Gavin Fitzjohn and Thomas 'Seamus' Simon sat down with the students for an engaging question-and-answer session during which Nutini shared his dream to one day record at Abbey Road Studios. When the band, originally from the United Kingdom, were asked about the differences between playing in Scotland and playing in Nashville, all of the musicians agreed that there really wasn't much of a difference. FitzJohn jokingly replied, "Everything is pretty much the same, except that it is extremely hot here!" Following the question-and-answer session, Hires performed several songs for the students and spoke about the great experience he's been having on this tour.
