You may want to clear some space for this edition of Positive Vibes Only — there's no telling how your body might start to move once you hear soca group Kes perform.
Utilizing the rich culture of their native Caribbean backgrounds, Kes effortlessly makes use of soca, calypso, reggae and pop elements to create soul-stirring music and must-see performances. Watch the Trinidad and Tobago natives' electrifying rendition of their 2015 track "People" below..
Founded in 2005 by the Dieffenthaller brothers Kees (lead vocals), Hans (drums) and Jon (guitar), and their longtime friend Riad Boochoon (bass), Kes have used their unique combination of infectious sounds to expand both the soca genre and their global reach. The dynamic group has collaborated with fellow Caribbean stars such as Shenseea, while proving that their sound can successfully mesh with non-Caribbean acts like Snoop Dogg.
Musical director and keyboardist Ricardo Rameshwar (positioned at the back left of the video), died on Feb. 1 after suffering an asthma attack. Rameshwar, commonly referred to as Ricky Bobby, joined the group in 2012.
